definitely an interesting night

8:15pm - Alex and I are at The Grove in Anaheim about to see Bill Maher do stand up comedy live.

10:50pm - Alex and I are robbed by a guy with a gun.

…wait, WHAT. THE. FUCK?

[REMARK BEFORE I GO ON: I want to say that I was extremely impressed by the responsiveness of the Santa Ana Police Department]

We were coming back from the show when I told Alex we should take a walk because I wanted to talk to him. We made a big circle and were on the sidewalk when I saw a large Hispanic guy walking in our direction. When he came close to us, he stopped us, lifted up his hoodie to reveal a gun in his pocket, put his hand on the handle, and said, “You got five seconds to give me your wallets.”

Alex gave him his wallet and I took my wallet out and realized that I had my license in there and student ID and other shit and I told him, “Listen, man, I’m in a bad situation and there’s some stuff here I can’t give you.” He started counting down and I said, “I’ll give you the cash man.”

He said “Okay.” I gave him all the cash I had: $1.59.

When Alex heard this, he said “Can I have my wallet back? I have some stuff there too, I’ll give you the cash.”

The guy gave Alex his wallet back and Alex gave the guy all the cash he had: $80.

Diagram of where the robbery took place.

^ It happened THAT close to home. We were walking West and he was Eastbound. ^

The guy left us and walked away. As soon as we were safe, Alex dialed the police. We gave them all the information and soon there were about 7 police cars and a helicopter patrolling the area. Well, 6 not counting the one that interviewed us.

She was really nice and after she questioned both of us, she questioned just me, and then just Alex. She got back into her car and I came back to Alex. When she got out, she said, “Since he lost more money he gets my card,” and gave her contact info to Alex.

We laughed. She drove away and then Alex drove away.

Oh and just so you know: Bill Maher was really funny.
